Mid-level systems engineer with strong technical background in physical sciences (EE/physics/optics). Candidate will provide systems engineering expertise to a program currently in the concept design/early acquisition phase of a complex system development. The ability to work across a broad spectrum of disciplines including optics, RF engineering, communications and satellite design/operation at a technical level sufficient to translate customer needs into clear, actionable requirements and interface specifications, then to work with development contractors to validate the resulting designs from concept definition through test, deployment and operation and maintenance is required. Able to validate engineering trade studies and technical analyses, identify system risk and mitigation strategies and activities, ensure spiral development goals are incorporated in designs, develop, coordinate and implement test plans and witness verification activities. Familiarity with satellite communications, US Government satellite systems and with Satellite Took Kit (STK) and Matlab modeling is a plus.
Experience with systems engineering and the system acquisition processes is required, as is the ability to resolve complex interdependent technical, cost and schedule issues. The candidate must be capable of interfacing with development contractors and government project managers. |
Candidate should have 8+ years experience in systems engineering. BS in EE/Physics/related field required, MS is a plus. Candidate must have a current SSBI and active SCI clearances, and be willing to complete a full scope polygraph. Excellent communications skills, specifically the ability to convey how technical detail impacts program direction and requirements satisfaction is also required. Moderate travel may be required; work will be performed in the Chantilly/Reston area. |
